London, Dec 10(ANI): England batsman Owais Shah has accused coach Andy Flower of not giving him a decent reason for being dropped from the national squad touring South Africa.
Shah was omitted from the tour despite being a regular in England's one-day team for several years.
"I had a chat with Andy Flower and he said I wasn't consistent enough. I found that bizarre because I have the most runs for England in the last 12 months. I don't really know where he's coming from," The Sun quoted Shah, as saying.
"I thought he would know those stats because I'm sure he would have discussed it with the selectors. I feel pretty miffed," he added.
Statistics show that, over the past two years since his recall, the 31-year-old has been not only the most prolific batsman in the team, but also the most effective boundary-hitter.
"The guys who have come in at my expense, such as Jonathan Trott, have done well. But, I believe I'm a lot more destructive, which is what you want in one-dayers," Shah said.
"England do have players who can score runs, but it's how you score runs, how quickly you score and how you can change the game," he added. (ANI)
