New Delhi, Dec. 9 (ANI): UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is celebrating her 63rd birthday on Wednesday, and several congress leaders reached her residence to greet her personally on the occasion.
Among those who visited her residence were -Union Ministers, P Chidambaram and A K Antony, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Chief Ministers of several Congress-ruled states besides AICC office bearers.
Praising her in Chennai, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said that the Congress President has "set a role model" for coalition governments in Indian politics.
Party workers took out colourful processions in New Delhi apart from organizing a havan at the Central Office of the party at 24 Akbar Road.
As a large number of party workers from all over the country turned up outside her 10 Janpath residence, there was a massive traffic jam in the area.
The main entrance of her residence, which faces Akbar Road, was blocked and visitors had to walk to greet her.
A large number of party workers from Karnataka led by AICC member SS Prakasam were seen wearing colourful T-shirts bearing the message "Our pride is mother India, our guide is mother Sonia." (ANI)
