Known as the "Oxford of the East" because of the number of educational institutions that call the city home, Pune gave Convergys a warm welcome and Convergys had soon hired 300 staff to provide customer care for a global telecommunications client. This year, over 700 Pune-based employees are celebrating the site's sixth anniversary.
Soon after the site opened, the dedicated agents in Pune very quickly demonstrated their ability to service client programs of great complexity with strong customer satisfaction results. Today, automotive and technology clients trust Convergys and its Pune staff to handle a range of demanding processes that span from operating an auto helpline for mechanics and dealers to providing high end business-to-business server technical support for a global high technology client. Convergys employees in Pune have received many client accolades for delivering sustained high performance.
Convergys employees have also been very active in Pune with its population of over four million and nearby communities in the state of Maharashtra. They have helped MASUM, a regional charity, to build and outfit a mobile computer lab to serve village populations in the Pune area with computer training and computer-based education. The employees have also worked together with a client to launch a community technology center that provides local residents with a 30-hour digital literacy-training program.
