Durban, Dec.5 (ANI): England and Middlesex captain Andrew Straus is convinced his new-look team has the talent and confidence to end years of misery in limited-overs cricket.

"Right from the time we touched down and played our first warm-up game, the squad has looked to have a good balance. The guys are playing for each other and are willing to play an expansive game. It looks like it has the potential to work," The Sun quoted Strauss, as saying.

"That's very encouraging and, once you have built momentum, that can help you push each other harder. I'm not going to say we're there yet because we have to improve in a lot of areas prior to the World Cup in 15 months. But I've seen enough to suggest we're not far enough where we want to be," he added.

"We want to keep this team together as much as possible. The last thing you need is chopping and changing leading towards a World Cup. It feels like a stronger group than at the start of the year," Strauss said.

"We are clear in our mind about where we need to go, everyone knows what they should be doing.

When we get to the World Cup in Asia, we must play an attacking brand of cricket," he added. (ANI)
