2nd Chinjak food festival kick starts in Imphal

Imphal, Nov.28 (ANI): Second edition of Chinjak food festival kick-started here on Friday and received an overwhelming public response.

 

The 11-day-long festival has the delicacies and culinary expertise of different communities of Manipur being exhibited under one roof.

 

The festival is being organised by the Board of Manipur Chinjak Festival under the aegis of the Innovative Youth Development Association.

 

The organizers stressed diversity of the north-eastern traditional cuisine. At the food fair, over 109 types of menus were presented by the expert chefs to the delight of the food lovers at different stalls.

 

"Our vision is to preserve and promote all traditional and indigenous food of the region. Region comprises of the entire north -eastern region. We are it from Manipur that is why we organize it annually; from now on, we want to organize it biannually," said A.K. Thouba, managing director of the chinjak food festival.

 

According to the organizers of the festival, cuisine of Manipur is very different from other states in India. It gives it an exotic value.

 

The representatives of the tourism department said that the industry can benefit from the exotic nature of the north eastern traditional cuisine.

 

A.K.Thouba, Managing Director, Food Fair said that the tourism industry of the State does not benefit much from the specialities of the cuisine because north-eastern States are not so accessible, given the problems of law and order and insurgency.

 

The public response to the fair has been overwhelming.

 

The participants and the food lovers appreciated the organizers of the festival and said that it is difficult to decide which cuisine is the most sought after.

 

"I have no likes and dislikes but I feel very great. I can also say that I am proud of motherland, Manipur. Therefore, we are going to promote such fast in Manipur. these cuisines are not from one place but from all Manipur," said Stanzin, one of the organizers of the food fest.

 

The northeastern states of India covet their tradition and work in tandem with the organizers of festivals promoting the culture. (ANI)
