London, Nov.29 (ANI): Britain's world champion team-mates Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton will be allowed to duel on track as hard as they can next season, but with respect for each other, News of The World reports.
Button's surprise move to the McLaren team just a month after inheriting the world crown from Hamilton will provide a real challenge of management as the duo vie for another title.
Hamilton won his duel two years ago with double world champion Fernando Alonso, who quit McLaren after just one year of strife. Button is relatively easy-going but he will expect an even approach from the Woking team in terms of equipment if not salary where he will lag well behind Hamilton on seven million pounds a year.
He was offered eight million pounds for next season with points bonuses, which could have been worth another four million pounds at Brawn, who were taken aback when he opted not to stay when they were taken over by Mercedes.
Now the key men at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes have spoken about how they will make life agreeable for both champions.
"We feel confi dent that, as an organisation, we'll be able to manage the demands and expectations of our drivers. Lewis and Jenson are both world champions, they know what it takes to win, and I'm sure they'll both be very motivated to push each other to deliver even greater results," the management said. (ANI)
