Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh), Nov.25 (ANI): A unique endeavour to spread communal harmony and promote brotherliness among people of different religious faith has been made in an obscure village near Muzaffarnagar city of Uttar Pradesh, where Hindu children have been enrolled at Madarsa, Islamic school.

Amidst the debate over Muslims singing Vande Mataram, the national song and communal conflicts, the Madarsa of Panjith is nurturing the children in communal amity, the endeavour to inculcate feeling of brotherliness among school going kids of different faiths holds significance.

The Madarsa, located in Panjith, a tiny village near Muzaffarnagar city, has set an example for all in the country.

The children learn not just Urdu and English but also Hindi and Computers together under the same roof.

"I study here along with my other classmates. We learn Urdu, Hindi and English here as well as computers and Sanskrit," said Sachin, a student of Madarsa, Panjith.

This Madarsa was set up about seven years ago.

Although its manager, Mohammed Farooq, wanted to induct the present model of teaching both Hindu and Muslim children under the same roof right from the outset, it took some time for his concept to be a reality.

Irrespective of which religion or caste the children hail from, our duty is to impart good education to them," said Mohammmed Farooq, Manager of Madarsa, Panjith.

On their part, the locals say that sending their children to this Madarsa will not be merely academic but also give them a lifelong lesson in secularism.

"When Hindu and Muslim children study together they learn the lesson of love along with other lessons. Then there will be no casteism, no anti-religion feelings," said Subhash, a villager of Panjith. By Ekram Ali (ANI)
