Fearless Federer to take revenge on Murray

London, Tue, 24 Nov 2009 ANI

London, Nov. 24 (ANI): Despite losing six of his nine matches to rival Andy Murray, Roger Federer reckons that he does not fear playing the British tennis sensation.

The rivals will come face to face in a match in Britain for the first time today at the Barclays World Tour finals at London's O2 Arena.

They both triumphed in their opening group game, and the winner of tonight's showdown is guaranteed a place in Saturday's semi-finals.

Federer, 28, who beat Fernando Verdasco in three sets on Monday evening, said: "I can mix up my game too well for Murray to get under my skin. If I attack him, I feel I'll do well."

"I am expecting a difficult match, though. I have played Andy more than most in the last year or so," he added

Federer was victorious in the pair's biggest clash to date - the 2008 US Open final. But Murray has dumped the world No1 out of last year's end-of-season event in China.

Revenge definitely will be on the Swiss star's mind.

"We played in Shanghai last year and I was not going into the match with high hopes, as I had been sick two days before. I played incredibly for a set and almost got the victory. But Andy ended up winning a great game. Hopefully, we can produce another good one," The Sun quoted Federer, as saying.

Murray, 22, certainly fancies his chances against Federer, though he remains rusty as he has played so little over the last couple of months because of a wrist injury.

"I am seeing how I go. I still feel I could have a good week. I always said I would peak at 23 or 24, so the next couple of years are very important for me. I still believe I can win one Grand Slam and possibly a few more," he added. (ANI)
