Don't be surprised if Australia is beaten, says Gayle

Brisbane, Mon, 16 Nov 2009 ANI

Brisbane, Nov 16(ANI): West Indies skipper Chris Gayle has said his team has the ability to defy expectations and win their first Test series in Australia since 1992-93.

"Australia and every team is beatable, don't be surprised if it happens, The Herald Sun quoted Gayle, as saying.

"The players' strike has set us back, but at the same time we have to move forward and forget about what has happened in the past. It's a rebuilding process," he added.

West Indies coach David Williams has also suggested about his team's chances of breaking its drought on Australian soil.

The team was recently in trouble due to a players strike, but Williams said that Australia could be vulnerable on home soil after it lost to South Africa last year.

"In the recent past they haven't played very well at home. I think there is an opportunity that we can capitalise on. I think if we play to our full potential, we have a good chance of beating Australia," Williams said.

The three-Test series between West Indies and Australia will start from November 26 at the Gabba. (ANI)
