Sydney, Nov 16(ANI): Australian fast bowler Brett Lee is unlikely to be considered for the first Test against West Indies starting November 26 after failing to recover from an elbow injury.
Lee aggravated his troublesome right elbow in New South Wales (NSW)'s Ford Ranger Cup loss to the Tigers on Sunday, robbing him of the chance to impress national selectors ahead of the first Test.
Lee has also been left out of the NSW line-up for the Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania starting Tuesday.
"Brett Lee was not considered for this match after suffering a reaction to his elbow injury. Brett remains upbeat at this stage, but will seek advice on the next course of action regarding further treatment on the injury," The Herald Sun quoted a NSW statement, as saying.
The 33-year-old is now highly unlikely to force his way into Ricky Ponting's side for the Brisbane Test.
Lee has played just one first-class match since last summer's Boxing Day Test, in which he strained a side muscle that ruled him out of the Ashes and the seven game ODI series against India. (ANI)
