London, November 14 (ANI): Horror film 'Paranormal Activity,' which was made in a limited budget of 15,000 dollars, has gone on to amass 100million dollars at the US box office.
The film had in fact raised 22million dollars in its first weekend after nationwide release in October end, beating the sixth instalment of the horror franchise Saw.
Director Oren Peli has expressed surprise at the response from fans.
"I'm pleased and overwhelmed and a bit shocked," the BBC News quoted him as saying.
He added: "The whole thing has been kind of crazy, so this is just one more crazy thing that's going on."
The film made in 2006 first opened in the US in September.
However, only midnight screenings in 12 college towns had taken place before the release in the UK on 25 November.
Peli said: "People say it's the first movie that's really scared them in a long time. What happens at night while you are asleep, that's a primal fear that everyone has in common."
Peli maintained silence over possibilities of a sequel to the film and his previously announced follow-up thriller 'Area 51'.
He added: "I'm not discussing the possibility of any future projects. I'm not going to comment on anything until it's done." (ANI)
