Mumbai, Nov 3(ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal on Tuesday met Maharashtra Governor SC Jamir for discussions over formation of the State Government.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Bhujbal said that his party was ready to give outside support to Congress for forming the Government.
"He (the Governor) asked us when we would like to form the Government and we told him that there was no delay from our side and we want to bring back the Congress party's Government and if required we will give the letter of support also. This has been conveyed to the Congress leader Ashok Chavan," Bhujbal said.
The Congress-NCP alliance won 144 out of the 288 seats in the October 13 State Assembly elections, but has developed strong differences over sharing of key portfolios due to which the Government has not been formed as of yet.
The Congress wants NCP to surrender at least two of five key departments - home, finance, energy, rural development and tribal development. The NCP is not ready to part with home, finance and energy but it is prepared to exchange the remaining two for urban development and social justice. (ANI)
