Chennai, Nov 3 (ANI): Tamil Nadu government has said that it will review the living condition of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees living in the state.
Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi held a high-level meeting here on Monday to discuss the issue.
The development comes in the wake of some reports in the media that Sri Lankan refugees were living without essential facilities in the camps.
Karunanidhi has formed 26 teams to review the situation and asked them to submit a report before November 10.
"Chief Minister has ordered all the ministers to find out the present state of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees living in different camps of Tamil Nadu. The review will be conducted by all the ministers and the all district collectors in the state before November 10 to ascertain the actual conditions of these Sri Lankan Tamils," said K K S S R Ramchandran, backward classes minister of Tamil Nadu.
There are about 19,340 Sri Lanka Tamil refugee families living in several camps in the state.
The state government with the help of central government is serving around 73,241 of them. (ANI)
