Mumbai, Oct 23 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has said that Congress high command deserves the credit for the victory of the Congress-NCP alliance for the third consecutive term in Assembly polls.
Talking to reporters here on Thursday, Chavan said: "I will credit this win to Sonia Gandhi who always helped works in Maharashtra and was also present during the campaign. I will also give credit to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi and other state party leaders. This is truly a result of team work and we could record this win only because of it."
He also said he was gratified by the public support.
The convincing win under Chavan's leadership is also likely to have laid to rest any tussle for Chief Minister's post both within the party.
Vilasrao Deshmukh Union Heavy Industries Minister said, "The decision of appointing the next Chief Minister lies in the hands of the Congress high command which would be accepted ," said Vilasrao Deshmukh Union Heavy Industries Minister.
The Congress- NCP alliance, which has won147 of the 288 constituencies, is poised to form the next government in Maharashtra. (ANI)
