Karachi, Oct.22 (ANI) : The Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) selection committee is awaiting captain Younis Khan's inputs before naming the squad for the one-day series against New Zealand which is scheduled to start on November 3 in Abu Dhabi.
Chief selector Iqbal Qasim said the committee has already consulted coach Intikhab Alam and vice-captain Shahid Afridi regarding the team for the UAE series.
Qasim said the selectors would meet Khan soon and thereafter decide the final 15 for the three match series.
"We have received inputs from the coach and vice-captain but will wait for consultation with the captain before naming the squad for the series in UAE," The News quoted Qasim, as saying.
There are indications that the selection panel could axe some of the non-performing senior players following their dismal show during the ICC Champions Trophy.
Speculations are rife that middle-order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq is unlikely to retain his place in the side as has been in awful form.
PCB chief Ijaz Butt has already made it clear that fast bowler Mohammad Asif would not be included in the UAE bound squad, as the authorities of that country have not allowed the tainted speedster to land in the country.
"We've been told by the PCB that Asif will not be going to Dubai so we have to look for a replacement," Qasim said.
PCB insiders, however, said the board is still trying to resolve the crisis regarding Asif's visit. (ANI)
