London, Oct 22 (ANI): Opera singer Katherine Jenkins broke down in tears on TV, while narrating how she once fought off an attacker who tried to rape her.

The Welsh singer revealed that she was punched and kicked by a man when she was a young music student.

In an interview with Piers Morgan, Katherine, 29, said that she feared for her life but managed to escape from his clutches, even after being thrown against a wall.

"I'd been out with my classmates from the Royal Academy [of Music] when somehow or other we got split up on the way home," The Daily Express quoted her as saying while recalling the attempted rape.

"I was walking across the bridge, near Paddington, and as I crossed this sort of gangway which went down to the station I felt suddenly someone too close to me and he, within seconds, was in front of me trying to drag me down this gangway and the police believe that he was trying to rape me," she added.

The singer struggled with her tears, as she described how she found the strength to escape his clutches.

"I think you either freeze or you fight and I wanted to kill him. I was so angry about it," she said.

During the ensuing struggle she had to endure a horrific attack before finally breaking free and fleeing in her high heels.

However, the star was not able to identify her attacker. (ANI)
