Button won't let Formula One win go to his head

Sao Paulo (Brazil), Oct. 20 (ANI): Having won this year's Formula One championship in Sao Paulo on Sunday, British racer Jenson Button is absolutely determined not to let this landmark achievement go to his head.

Button says he wants to get rid of the so-called pitlane playboy tag and be considered a man of some serious achievement.

Sipping a large glass of white wine in his hotel room here, he told The Times: "I think most drivers when they have the possibility of winning the World Championship, they go crazy. We all celebrate it in different ways and for me to just chill on my own was the best thing."

Sure, he admits there has been the usual partying after victory, but at the end of it all, just lying in bed with a big grin on his face and thinking about what he has achieved, seems ideal.

Button is the tenth Briton to become world champion, and financial gains should not be far behind the sporting prize.

Button insisted yesterday that his win or his involvement in motor racing was "not about the money". Indeed, he looked bemused when asked if he would be treating himself to a lavish present, such as a private jet, another yacht or a big new house in Monaco.

"I don't need to treat myself," he said, adding that the World Championship was the biggest Christmas present ever.

"I have been with this team (Brawn GP) since 2003. It might have changed names, and shrunk in size, but I love the atmosphere, the way we all pull together in difficult times and we have been through a lot of those. We have been working for a long time on next year's car. That comes with good leadership," he says. (ANI)
