Jammu, Oct 19 (ANI): Kashmir's cricket body blamed malcontents for the recovery of suspected explosive material from state cricketers on Sunday.
Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy and president of the state cricket body Farooq Abdullah said he suspected that local players who were not selected could be behind the episode.
" Some people from here made telephone calls; they might be the ones who have not got selected. I don't entirely blame the Karnataka government, we should see within ourselves also," Abdullah told reporters here on Sunday.
Abdullah said he would ask the police to investigate the issue. " I would make a request with ADG (Assistant Director General of Police) that he should investigate here from where telephone calls were made. It will make everything clear," he said.
Two cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir have been detained in Bangalore, after suspected residue of explosive materials was allegedly found in their bag during a search at Chinnaswamy stadium on Saturday.
According to reports, Bangalore police have detained Parvez and Mehrajudin following a tip-off that the two might be carrying explosives to the stadium, where they had come to participate in the CK Naidu Trophy. (ANI)
