US ambassador calls on West Bengal Chief Minister

Kolkata, Oct 14 (ANI): US Ambassador to India, Timothy Roemer, on his maiden two-day visit to Kolkata called on West Bengal chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Tuesday.

 

Roemer termed the meeting as 'very productive.'

 

" I had a very productive meeting with the chief minister. I found him to be very engaging, very talented politician. We talked about a lot of common interest and I had passed on my best regards from the leadership of the state department and from White House," said Roemer.

 

Roemer presented him two books authored by US President Barrack Obama.

 

"I gave to chief minister two books from president Barrack Obama - 'Dreams From My Father and 'The Audacity of Hope'. And he gave me a very collegial, very productive and very warn meeting," Roemer said.

 

Roemer also visited Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore's ancestral house at Jorasanko, which is a museum these days.

 

He also met the representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce. (ANI)
