The Who guitarist Pete Townshend writes musical 'Floss'

London, Aug 27 (ANI): Guitarist Pete Townshend from rock band The Who has written a musical called Floss, which will open in New York in 2011.

The rock opera apparently derives the style from their earlier work Tommy and Quadrophenia.

The 64-year-old has revealed that his new work deals with issues affecting a man of his age and it will express his anger in true rock fashion.

"As a 19-year-old with My Generation, I wrote the most explicitly ageist song in rock. At 64, I now want to take on ageing and mortality, using the powerfully angry context of rock 'n' roll," The Sun quoted him as saying.

The story revolves around pub rocker Walter who retires early in his life after his song gets used on a car advert earning him a fortune.

However, he returns to music 15 years later but his relationship with wife Floss falters.

Arena dates will follow the opening in New York. (ANI)
