Oct 13: Just after the announcement of a two-phase election in Gujarat on Dec 11 and Dec 16, the Election Commission has firmed up its stand to ensure a free and fair election. Lately the commission has asked the state government to remove all political banners and hoardings as soon as possible as per the newly implemented model code of conduct.

In fact Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami had directed to implement the model of code of conduct immediately after his meeting with political parties. But Narendra Modi led BJP government of the state has opposed it saying that EC is unfair in implementing the code of conduct.

BJP on Thursday made a point to the EC that the model code of conduct has been imposed earlier than the usual time as it is almost two months for the election to be taken place. According to the state government the code of conduct should be implemented before a maximum period of 45 days but in this case it is more than 60 days.

However, Election Commission has termed this claim as baseless by saying that the implementation of code of conduct is not new. EC is taking all measures for an impartial and fair poll preparation before the month of December.

The commission has instructed the administration to take out all government publicity hoardings and also made it clear that there should be no government sponsored advertisement or programmes. This has been announced after the meeting of chief election commissioner N. Gopalaswami and State Chief Secretary Manjula Subramaniam.

The Election Commission is also observing the content of a privately owned TV channel “Vande Gujarat” allegedly owned by some BJP supporters. In response to this the EC has said that it can’t stop any body running a TV channel as long as it is not using government money. However, the commission has also mentioned that action would be taken if it finds any kind of objectionable programme. Earlier opposition party Congress has objected it as the channel a part of BJP’s propaganda.

we have to be tough since practically all parties and candidate have made 'Election-processes' as tools of earing and profiteering of fame and money instead of 'Service to the Nation' and 'developments of all' being competitive and honest. the toughness is only way out to eradicate 'corruptions', that is prevailant practically in all fields of professionalisms, executions and administrations.
