Peru Benefitting from Well-Managed Economy

Up until 2008, Peru had strong economic growth, averaging at almost 7% a year. This was mainly due to the economic reforms that supported a market-oriented system. The economy expanded through various industries such as construction, mining, exports, private investment and domestic consumption. The newest government has decided to keep these policies that have encouraged such growth.

The officials have governed the regulations pertaining to the economy well. They have managed the funds and have allotted them correctly and they have implemented a better method of collecting taxes. This has also increased the growth in the economy. Increasing the revenues while managing the expenditures, has allowed the country to succeed. Not only this, but the country has also managed to increase the level of private investment and these investments are more broad-based than in the past.

To create more opportunities for the people, the administration is trying to decentralize more parts of the economy and has a plan to bring more small businesses into operation. This will allow an increased number of people to make an income and become more self-sufficient. For the long run, this is better for the economy.

The financial crisis in 2008 and 2009 did little to hamper the progress of this country. They still had a positive growth rate and in fact were one of the few countries of Latin America to obtain this. After a slight increase, the inflation rate went back down in 2009 when the commodity prices were still low. They have been able to pay on their debts and still proceed with some slight growth.

Foreign trade, investments, as well as mining and energy have helped Peru to gain the income that it has. They also have a tourism industry to work with. All of these aspects along with the good management of the economy have worked to benefit the locals in a time of financial crisis, and now into the time of recovery.
