More detail about Guinea
Guinea Holding Great Potential
Guinea is a country that holds a lot of potential in more than one sector and it
is waiting at its fingertips. This area contains over 25 billion metric tons of
bauxite which may be up to a half of what the world has to offer in terms of
exploitable reserves. This does not include its other resources. They have great
deposits of iron ore, gold, and diamonds as well as uranium deposits whose
amounts remain undiscovered.
Aside from the mining industries, there are other sectors that show wonderful
promise. There are fishing and agricultural sectors that are waiting to be
utilized. The climate, soil and water are suitable for creating large scale
industry in these fields. These industries need investment but there is definite
room for growth for those willing to be involved. There are opportunities for
commercial activities in these areas as well.
All of this opportunity is lying in these regions but are often held back
because of the lack of infrastructure and overwhelming levels of corruption.
These are large obstacles that have to be crossed before any large investment
projects can be started.
There have been various deals between Guinea and other countries and some of
those are currently in operation such as the joint venture between that
country?s government and Russki Alumina. There are also deals between Guinea and
places like Ukraine that although the agreements have been made, the operations
aren?t expected to bring in anything for quite some time.
The agricultural side of Guinea tends to get overlooked but they are proficient
in growing rice, tapioca, coffee, sweet potatoes, bananas, palm products,
timber, and pineapples. They also grow cattle, goats, and sheep. All of these
included make up over a quarter of their revenue.
It might take some time to get the deals running but there certainly is a lot of
potential for growth in this area if only the right investors would join the
cause and have some influence on the infrastructure and corruption.
