Albania - Needs Grants for Development
The south-eastern European nation has not been really in the best of terms with
peace and accord. Albania has constantly faced inner strife, struggle for power
and corruption has been at its highest which has stalled the nation from steady
economic and educational progress.
Maximum of the workers are emigrants here. The labor force is pretty strong and
the unemployment rate has been gradually dropping. The employment is mostly
related with agriculture even though it hasn?t been very productive to the
national economy.
There have been efforts to bring a well-structured education system in Albania.
Most government schools face dearth for text books even though elementary
education is compulsory. There is huge difference between the rich schools and
the schools for the middle and lower-class people. The mediocre schools are not
able to provide students maximum infrastructure and necessary equipments needed
to compete with the curriculum.
Even though there have been efforts to improve technology and increase
employment, Albania is one of the poorest countries in the world. Regardless the
number problems faced by the nation, the people are wonderful, and so is the
nature of Albania.
The climate is moderate and dry during summer time. The winters are wet and cold
and the interiors are also cold and much wetter. The country spread with
mountains and hills while the plains touch the coast line.
Steps are being taken to improve infrastructure, road and rail networks in the
country. Most of the help comes from the European Union.
For electricity they are dependent on the hydro power project. There is not much
business development in Albania and also the state fails to attract any foreign
investments because of inadequate energy resources.
Albania is a candidate for the European Union and is making slow progress and
the unemployment rate is still very high.
