Dialogue must for peaceful solution of Kashmir: Farooq Abdullah

Jammu, Jan 5 (ANI): Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy and President National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah has said that the dialogue both at external and internal levels is must for the peaceful solution of Kashmir issue.

 

Addressing media persons here, Dr. Abdullah said: " Violence is no solution to any problem and the separatist leaders of Kashmir should engage themselves in the process of dialogue initiated by the Centre."

 

Ruling out any conflict between the top leadership of both the parties, he also made it clear that their coalition with congress in the state is going on smoothly.

 

He further said that the Indo-Pak relations have a direct bearing upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir and cordial relations between two countries would surely have a positive impact on the State.

 

Praising, Abdul Gani Bhat, former chairman of the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference, for his statement that separatists were responsible for some of the killings in the state. Abdullah said: "I am happy that he has brought out this truth. However, I have no doubt about that he has risked his life by doing that. But it is very important to say the truth. Only then we can move forward and arrive at a solution."

 

In reply to a question pertaining to the views of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq regarding the failure of United Nation Organization in addressing Jammu and Kashmir issue, Abdullah said that as a Union Minister he cannot comment upon it, however, as the President of National Conference he agrees with the views of Mirwaiz adding that the Organization despite being useful in so many ways at the global level has failed in resolving many issues.
