Jaganmohan Reddy resigns from Congress

Hyderabad, Mon, 29 Nov 2010 ANI

Hyderabad, Nov 29 (ANI): Rebel Congress MP from Kadapa YS Jaganmohan Reddy has resigned from the party after the Congress expressed anger over the episodes telecast on Sakshi television channel owned by him criticised the party leadership.

His mother Vijayalaxmi also resigned as MLA from Pulivendula Assembly seat.

According to sources, Reddy is likely to float his own political party called Youth Sramik Ryot (YSR).

Jagan has sent his resignation letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi. His four-page resignation letter claimed that there was 'politics against him' in his own party.

"I resign from primary membership of Congress and Lok Sabha. The AICC has insulted me repeatedly in the last 14 months. I was not treated with the respect I deserve. My father's legacy was hijacked by others and I was not allowed to continue my Odarpu yatra," said Jagan in his letter.

Jagan has been defying Congress leadership by going on 'Odarpu yatra' reportedly to meet and console the family members of people who committed suicide following the death of his father YS Rajashekhar Reddy.

Sakshi TV, a channel owned by Jagan, has also been very critical of Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.

The channel stated, "The 125 year old Congress party has suffered a huge loss in Bihar. It got only four seats. It shows that Rahul Gandhi's magic is not working. The party has lost local elections in several states."

"Andhra Pradesh is the only state where the Congress is strong. But of late even here the party is suffering. Every change is being questioned. The Chief Minister in Andhra Pradesh has been changed but it remains to be seen what Kiran Kumar can do," the TV report added.

Earlier, Sakshi TV had launched a frontal attack on Sonia Gandhi and the organisation in a one-hour programme.

Manmohan Singh was also targeted along with the "coterie around Sonia" for the "sorry state of affairs in Congress." (ANI)
