London, Sun, 22 Aug 2010 ANI

London, Aug 22 (ANI): Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Al-Megrahi reportedly has learnt English in Greenock Prison and spoke in Scottish accent when he telephone his friends in Scotland to talk about Rangers.

The Daily Express quoted one of members of Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi's family in Tripoli, who visited Megrahi to mark the anniversary of his release, as saying, "he has friends in Scotland and was talking with them. He is fluent in English and has a Scottish accent. He misses certain people and wanted to know how Rangers, his favourite team, are doing."

He is believed to have learned English in Greenock Prison in Scotland, before being freed on compassionate grounds for suffering from prostate cancer.

Despite diplomatic pressure, there were "low key" celebrations in Libya, as crowds chanting Megrahi's name gathered in Tripoli. (ANI)
