Security forces arrest hardcore Maoist in Bihar

Gaya, Oct 10 (ANI): Police in Bihar foiled an attack by rebels and arrested a hardcore Maoist along with material used for landmine explosions and other documents. State police along with a team of paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) Cobra battalion conducted a search operation after receiving a tip-off about the presence of Maoists in the Gaya district and that they have placed landmines in the area. Police foiled the Maoists’ plan of attacking the security personnel during upcoming state elections in Bihar. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gaya, Manu Maharaj said the arrested Maoist was identified as Sunil Dangi. Police informed that two other Maoists, however, managed to flee from the spot. The Maoists, also known as 'Naxals' in India, seek the violent overthrow of the Indian state and have fought authorities for decades, particularly in rural areas of central and eastern India where they enjoy some support.
