SP, BJP at loggerheads over Yash Bharti pension scheme

Lucknow, Feb 06 (ANI): Samajwadi Party leader Naved Siddiqui on Saturday lauded Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on the Yash Bharti awardees pension scheme, saying he has always initiated good schemes for the artists. He said various artists have enrolled for the pension scheme and there is an enthusiasm among the artists for this scheme. He added that earlier, parties such as the Congress used to criticise the scheme, but now Raj Babbar, another Congress leader, has also enrolled for the same. However, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders said it was a matter of shame that when poor farmers in Bundelkhand district were having scarcity of food, the Government is distributing pensions to 50, 000 artists. He said the money of the people should be used for the welfare of the people. He said he would appeal to the Yash Bharti awardees to help the poor with that money.
