PM announces Rs.300 crore relief package for Assam victims
Kokrajhar, July 28 (ANI): Following a visit to strife torn district in of Assam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today announced a relief and rehabilitation package worth rupees 3 billion for riots victims. Singh visited the violence hit district Kokrajhar to take stock of the situation, after ethnic clashes erupted between Bodo tribals and Muslim settlers. Later while addressing reporters Singh declared the monetary assistance assuring that his central government would closely work with the state to reinstate normalcy. He highlighted the need to find the cause of the ethnic clashes that have, so far claimed 44 innocent lives. Singh further announced compensation for kin of those who died during the violent clashes.
