Local bodies key to employment in rural areas: PM
New Delhi, July 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today lauded the Rural Development Ministry over the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). While releasing the MGNREGA review report in New Delhi, Singh called for strengthening of Panchayati Raj Institutions or local bodies in order to enable them to generate employment in the rural areas. Singh added that there was a significant increase in the participation from the backward and deprived communities of the rural areas.
