Kate Winslet reveals bullies called her ‘bubbler’, slams body shamers with an inspiring speech

New Delhi, March 23 (ANI): Kate Winslet just gave us one more reason to love her. The Oscar-winning actress, who was recently spotted at an event, delivered an inspiring speech that touched on body shaming when she was younger and the importance of believing in oneself. E! Online quoted Winslet as saying, “I had been bullied at school. They called me Blubber. Teased me for wanting to act. Locked me in the cupboard. Laughed at me. I was even told that I might be lucky with my acting, if I was happy to settle for the fat girl parts’. I felt that I wasn't enough, I wasn't good enough. I didn't look right...and all because I didn't fit into someone else's idea of 'perfect.' I didn't have the perfect body,” she said. She spoke in front of about 12000 people at the fourth annual ‘WE Day’ UK event. The ‘Collateral Beauty’ star also shared, “I did not care, I just wanted to be great.” On a related note, also in attendance was Paula Abdul, and performers Jessie J, Fleur East and Conor Maynard.
