IIT Madras is autonomous, takes its own steps: Smriti Irani on row over ban on students group
Silchar, May 29 (ANI): Amidst protests, Union Education Minister Smriti Irani on Friday distanced herself from the decision of IIT Madras to de-recognise a students' study group for allegedly criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government's policies. Irani said that IIT Madras is an autonomous institution which takes its own steps. She also hit out at the opposition Congress party for politicizing the issue.
