Hindus and Muslims flock the Urs of Barwah Sadat reflecting essence of communal harmony

Srinagar, May 04 (ANI): The socio-cultural ethos of Kashmir or Kashmiriyat is steeped in a tradition of religious tolerance, social harmony and brotherhood. It was influenced by the advent of Sufism in Kashmir since its inception. And even today these Sufi saints are preached with the same utmost devotion. The Urs of Barwah Sadat in Srinagar witnesses such true devotees every year. Here people irrespective of their caste come together to celebrate the Urs of the saint of in his lifetime preached harmony and brotherhood in the region. The Urs of Barwah Sadat gathers devotees from all places who come here to preach his teachings and fulfill their prayers. The colourful decoration of the shrine and fair organised during the occasion adds charm to the event and make people believe that it is nothing less than a festival. The shrine is a perfect example of Kashmiriyat, celebrating a seamless co-existence of various cultures and religious influences.
