Heat wave toll in Telangana reaches 188
Hyderabad/Vizag, May 24 (ANI): Intense heat wave conditions have claimed 188 lives in Telangana, local media reported on Sunday. With maximum temperature hovering over 42 degrees, residents in capital Hyderabad city took refuge under shade or preferred to stay indoors to escape the blistering heat. Cold drinks, chilled water and other summer drinks are the most popular options among people to beat the heat. Health Minister of Telangana, C Laxma Reddy, said the government was creating awareness among people on ways to protect themselves from the rising temperatures. In the neighboring Andhra Pradesh too, the death toll rose to 182, according to officials. The Met department said that the severe heat wave conditions will prevail for another two days in the state.
