Five coaches of Chennai-Mangalore Express derail in Tamil Nadu, 42 injured

Virudhachalam/ New Delhi, Sep 04 (ANI): At least 42 people were injured after five coaches of the Chennai-Mangalore Express derailed near Virudhachalam in Tamil Nadu early Friday. Train No.16859 Chennai-Mangalore Express derailed near Poovanur around 2 am. There were no immediate reports of fatalities from the accident. The injured are being rushed to a nearby hospital. Friday's accident, the third in just about a month, once again put the spotlight on railway safety. India has the world's fourth largest railway network that ferries more than 23 million passengers every day, but infrastructure is poorly maintained and accidents are common.
