Consumer Confidences Up; More Retailer Earnings
The latest reading of consumer confidence showed an improvement in attitudes for August. The measure rose to its highest level in three months. Meanwhile, another batch of earnings were released from the retailing sector. The lates reports included stronger than expected profits from Gap and Ann Inc. Earnings news also came out from packaged food maker Smucker.
