CPI (M) observes birth anniversary of Jyoti Basu
Kolkata, July 08 (ANI): Communist Party of India Marxist observed the birth anniversary of their veteran leader Jyoti Basu today in Kolkata. However, Basu s birth anniversary has been surrounded by controversy this time, as West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had wanted to hold celebrations on July 06, two days prior to the birthday. This was promptly rejected by the CPI (M) who went ahead with holding the anniversary today at the state assembly house but was rejected entry as it was closed being a Sunday. The party members then held up a photo of Basu on the gate and garlanded it while holding the anniversary gatherings with their followers.
