Admiral Dhowan appointed as new Navy chief
New Delhi, Apr 17 (ANI): Admiral R K Dhowan was on Thursday appointed as new Chief of Naval Staff. After dithering for over 50 days following Admiral DK Joshi's sudden resignation on February 26, owning "moral responsibility" for a string of warship mishaps, the government finally moved swiftly on Thursday to appoint Admiral Robin Dhowan as the new chief. Vice Admiral Dhowan was set to retire from the Indian Navy on 31 May, this year. However, it has been decided that he will be serving the Indian Navy for an additional tenure of two years.
