Activists stage protest over soaring onion prices in J and K

Jammu, Sep 01 (ANI): Members of a local organisation in Jammu and Kashmir, Dogra Front took their protests to the streets against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government's failure to control the spiraling prices of onion. Activists carried baskets of onions on their heads, rang bells and shouted slogans as part of their protests against skyrocketing onion prices. Onion prices have more than tripled over the course of monsoon season, which started in June. Prices hit 80 rupees in parts of the country as scant monsoon rain delays plantings. President of Dogra Front, Ashok Gupta blamed the central government for the rise in onion prices.
