A family of dwarfs in Hyderabad clearly defies stereotypes
Hyderabad, May 23 (ANI): Members of Raja Ram Chauhan's family are often greeted by curious glances every time they step out but the largest family of dwarfs in Hyderabad is unperturbed and goes on with life. The short stature of Chauhan's family is a result of a genetic condition called achondroplasia. Achondroplasia causes shorter limbs and bowed legs leading to shorter height. Generations of Chauhan's family have been affected by this condition except a few. Chauhan's family is a close knit unit of 18 members living in a small house. They have embraced their size and are constantly trying to cope in a world where they are often faced by prejudices and some limitations caused by their genetic condition. Chauhan, has juggled various jobs to feed his family but soon his condition made it very difficult for him to travel or work.
