17 Maoists killed in Chhattisgarh
New Delhi, June 30 (ANI): At least 17 suspected Maoists were shot dead during an overnight gun battle with security forces in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, said Union Home Minister, PA Chidambaram. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the suspected rebels exchanged fire for six hours in the insurgent infested area. Meanwhile, over six CRPF personnel have sustained serious injuries and were rushed to district hospitals for medical aid, out of which two critical officials were air lifted to the state capital Raipur. Chidambaram also added that nearly 45 armed cadres had ambushed a patrol party.
