Bihar Arts and Culture

Bihar has its own golden heritage of its art and culture, which has attracted people from many parts of country. It has some of the rare kind of arts, literature, music that are the gift of its golden heritage from very ancient times. Of course with the changing time, people have witnessed many changing in their traditional culture of Bihar but it is significant that they have never forget their old heritage in terms of their art, literature and language which are the actual assets for the State.

In literature, Bihar has produces many noted writer in various languages including Hindi and local languages. Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Rambriksh Benipuri, Phanishwar Nath Renu, Gopal Singh Nepali etc are the name which created a milestone in India with their valuable and revolutionary writing and all the big guns belongs to Bihar. They have played their significant role in continuing the golden heritage and culture of Bihar.

Bihar is also rich in terms of its languages property, which are another golden heritage of State. Although Hindi, Uru and Maithili are the official languages of Bihar but a mass number of population speaks Bhojpuri, magadhi and local languages.

Bihar has its old tradition of music and dance, which gifted many personalities to the country. Dhrupad Gharana from Darbhanga and Mishra Gharana have its old name and have contributed many noted singers to the country. Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan had born in Bihar who was the noted musicians of the country.

Folk songs and music is also a special gift of Bihar, which is the part of their day-to-day life. Bihari folk music today has become widely accepted and after the flourish of Bhojpuri cinema, Bihari folk music has achieved its special height.
