Kevin Pietersen is a South African born English cricketer who plays for England. Here is everything from news, reviews, in-depth analysis, opinion and more about Kevin Pietersen.

He was born in Pietermaritzburg, Natal Province, South Africa on 27 June 1980 to an English mother, Penny, and an Afrikaner father, Jannie. He has three brothers Tony, Greg and Bryan. His mother being from England made him eligible to play for England.

Though he was born in South Africa and made his first class debut there in Natal in 1997 at the age of 17, he ultimately moved to England expressing his dissatisfaction at the racial quota system in place in South Africa.

Pietersen is a right-handed batsman and right arm off spin bowler.

He played his first One Day International against Zimbabwe in 2004 and played his first Test match in 2005 in Ashes series against Australia. He is known for his fierce hitting in ODI and T20 and at the same time for his composure and patience in test match. The Times called him "the most complete batsman in cricket".

He is the fastest batsman to reach both 1,000 and 2,000 runs in ODI cricket, and the quickest to reach 5,000 Test runs. He has the second highest total number of runs in first 25 Tests that he has played bettered only by Australian Donald Bradman. He is only the third English batsman to top the ICC ODI rankings.

He will play from Delhi Daredevils in Indian Premier League season 5. Prior to this season he played for Deccan Chargers in 4th season and for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2nd and 3rd seasons.
