Delhi Daredevils IPL 2009 Team Profile

If there’s a rival to the Chennai Super Kings in style and substance it has to be the Delhi Daredevils IPL team. Not only do the Daredevils have explosive batsmen like Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir but also experienced pacers like Glenn Mc Grath and spinners like Daniel Vettori. Delhi Daredevils also boast of upcoming stars including Amit Mishra and Tilakaratne Dilshan. The team bought by the GMR group for $84 million, has recently acquired English cricketers Owais Shah and Paul Collingwood to further sharpen its armoury.

Delhi Daredevils made it to the semi-finals of the inaugural IPL but couldn’t proceed further. This year Delhi Daredevils made a winning start to their IPL-2 campaign by winning the first game against Kings XI Punjab. Daniel Vettori starred in the win and received high praise from Captain Virender Sehwag, who called him the world’s best spinner currently. Delhi Daredevils have also been served well by Glenn Mc Grath, the Aussie speedster who is known the world over for his perfect line and length and miserly economy rate.
