B.S. Yeddyurappa was born on 27 July 1943 in Karnataka to Siddalingappa and Puttathayamma. He married Mythradevi who died in the year 2004 because of cardiac arrest.

He has 2 son and 3 daughters named Raghavendra, Vijayendra, Arunadevi, Padmavati and Umadevi.

He started as a clerk at first working in Shankar Rice mill later he was appointed as secretary of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamseva Sangh). In 1975 he became the president of Town Municipality of Shikaripura. In 1988 he became the State President of BJP in Karnataka.

In the year 2007 he became the 25th chief minister of Karnataka but later had to resign. In 2008 he again became Chief Minister. Later in 2011 he resigned following accusations of him being involved in many scams.

Yeddyurappa was awarded an Honorary Doctorate - Saginaw Valley State University, USA (2008).
