Sushil Kumar Sambhajirao Shinde, popularly known, as Sushil Kumar Shinde is an Indian politician............

Sushil Kumar Sambhajirao Shinde, popularly known, as Sushil Kumar Shinde is an Indian politician, who became the first Scheduled Caste Chief Minister of Maharasthra. He is at present Member of Rajya Sabha and Union Minister of Power in the Centre.

Sushil Kumar Shinde was born at Solapur district of Maharashtra on 04th September 1941 in a Kakkaya-Lingayat Samaj (Hindu Scheduled Caste) family. He is a law graduate from University of Bombay and he joined the Indian Police Service, who was encouraged by Sharad Pawar to quit his Sub-Inspector job and join politics. He contested assembly election from Karmala, Solapur seat and won it by over 25,000 votes. He was also included in V K Naik?s government as a junior minister. He won four assembly election and became Finance Minister in Vilasrao Deshmukh government.

In Centre, he was elected as Member of Rajya Sabha three times and was appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh in in 2004. He also fought the election of Deputy President in 2002 but lost to Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

Sushil Kumar Shinde got married to Ujwala Shinde on 01 May 1970 and the couple has three daughters.
