Mayawati was born on 15 January 1956 in New Delhi to father Prabhu Das. She was the found of Kanshi Ram founder of Bahujan Samaj Party.

Mayawati is the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and present Head of Bahujan Samaj Party (B.S.P.). She remains unmarried to focus on her political carrier. In 1995 she became the youngest Chief Minister of U.P. at the age of 39 till Akhilesh Yadav broke it becoming the youngest C.M. of UP ever.

She is many times called as Behen ji, which means sister.

She has been elected as C.M. of U.P. for four times in 1995, 1997, 2002 and 2007 but completed her 5 years tenure only once in 2007.
