Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Public Library is one of the most reputed public libraries in India. The library has become synonymous with identity of capital of Bihar. Due to large collection of books the library is one of the most loved places for those who love reading. The library was opened for the public in the year 1891 by Khan Bahadur Khuda Bakhsh. Initially he opened the library with 4000 manuscripts out of which 1,400 were from his father Maulvi Mohammed Bakhsh collection.

Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Public Library is fully funded by Ministry of Culture (Govt. of India). The library is a boon for the local students and research scholars who find a large number of books for their preparation. A board governs the Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Public Library with governor of Bihar its ex-officio chairman.

The library is an autonomous institution. Tourist and dignitaries who visit Patna make it a point to visit this one of the most reputed libraries in the Indian state of Bihar.

The library has a number of daily visitors and it serves to all who has a genuine urge to read and use the collection of these prestigious libraries in India.

The well-known library is situated on the Ashok Rajpath in Patna adjacent to Patna Medical College and Hospital.
