Two-day Central Administrative Tribunal Conference inaugurated in New Delhi

New Delhi, August 2 (ANI): The two-day "All India Conference of the Central Administrative Tribunal" was inaugurated here today.

 

Addressing the conference, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension Prithviraj Chavan said: "The Tribunal needs to be strengthened and made effective."

 

The Government is continuously simplifying rules regulations procedures for making them easy and friendly to the stakeholders.

 

He further said that public grievances cells with a nodal public grievance officer have been set up in all the Ministries where the individual grievance of the officials are heard and resolve to the extent possible.

 

The Minister said the Government also believes that ensuring the transparency of good governance and have enacted the Right to Information, which makes the governance transparent and open.

 

He informed that the Central Administrative Act, 1985 was enacted and the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) was constituted with five benches initially to provide government employees speedy, relatively and inexpensive remedy.

 

Today in addition to the Central Government employees, some 137 other organizations have been brought within the jurisdiction of the CAT and it has 17 regular benches.

 

Addressing on the occasion, the Union Minister of Law and Justice H.R. Bhardwaj said that the CAT has become very important and effective institution and it needs to be strengthened.

 

In his keynote address, the Chief Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan described the problems of the tribunal. He said the efficiency of tribunal should be increased. (ANI)
